Overview
As the Head Mechanical Captain at Chantilly Robotics, I led a 20-person subteam in designing and fabricating a large-scale, 125-pound FRC robot. I oversaw the design process using CAD software and technical drawings, while fabrication involved advanced machinery, metal machining, 3D printing, CNC, and other automated systems. Beyond managing and mentoring my subteam, I coordinated with leadership and mentors to keep our 100-person team organized and ensure our robot was completed within the strict six-week deadline. This role strengthened my skills in technical design, communication, and leadership under time pressure.
Contributions
Before becoming a captain, I contributed hands-on to the design and fabrication of multiple subsystems, including drivetrain assemblies and custom mechanisms such as object grabbers and shooters. These early contributions gave me experience in OnShape CAD design, making and reading technical drawings, various tools such as the vertical mill, bandsaws, 3d printers, and laser cutters and how to fabricate using aluminum sheet metal and tubing.
